Let Babylon Burn - A Gentle Soul

You never had much in your pocket, but you always had the time
Never made me feel a burden for saying what was on my mind
You didn’t have to fix it.
You didn’t turn away
You had enough to carry, but you listened anyway
A gentle soul, you always had the time
Even with your own hard days, you made room for mine
A gentle soul, I wish this world had known
How much the one who listens needs kindness of his own
I think you saw what others missed
Knew more than you would say
Some grew used to what you gave them
And forgot you had hard days
You never asked for much of anything, though you had your troubles, too
